1. Information Stored Locally
The following data is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and is never transmitted to our servers:
- Your movie and TV show library
- Custom collections you create
- Episode watch progress and ratings
- App preferences and filter settings
- API keys you provide for AI features (OpenAI, Anthropic, Grok)
2. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- The Movie Database (TMDB): We use TMDB's API to fetch movie and TV show information, including titles, descriptions, images, ratings, and streaming availability. When you search or browse content, requests are sent to TMDB's servers. See TMDB's Privacy Policy.
- OpenAI API: If you use AI recommendations and provide an OpenAI API key, your queries are sent to OpenAI's servers for processing. See OpenAI's Privacy Policy.
- Anthropic (Claude) API: If you use AI recommendations and provide an Anthropic API key, your queries are sent to Anthropic's servers. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
- Grok API: If you use AI recommendations and provide a Grok API key, your queries are sent to Grok's servers. See Grok's Privacy Policy for details.
3. Information We Do NOT Collect
- Personal identification information (name, email, phone number) unless you contact us for support
- Location data
- Device identifiers for tracking purposes
- Usage analytics or behavioral data
- Your library, collections, or watch history
How We Use Information
Since WatchZang stores all data locally on your device, we do not have access to or use your personal data. The App uses your locally stored information solely to:
- Display your movie and TV show library
- Organize content into collections
- Track your watch progress
- Provide personalized recommendations based on your library
- Save your preferences and settings
Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not share, sell, or disclose your personal information to third parties, with the following exceptions:
- Service Providers: When you use third-party features (TMDB, AI services), your requests are sent directly to those services in accordance with their privacy policies.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, property, or safety.
Data Security
All your personal data (library, collections, progress) is stored locally on your device using React Native's AsyncStorage. The security of this data depends on your device's security measures (passcode, biometric authentication, etc.).
API keys you provide are stored locally and encrypted using your device's secure storage mechanisms. We recommend using strong device security to protect this information.
Data Retention
Your data remains on your device until you delete the App or clear its data. We do not retain any copies of your data on our servers.
Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access and Control: All your data is accessible within the App. You can view, edit, or delete any information at any time.
- Deletion: You can delete individual items, collections, or clear all data by removing the App from your device.
- API Keys: You can update or remove your API keys at any time through the App settings.
Children's Privacy
WatchZang is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us at kieran@iconnectit.co.uk.
International Users
WatchZang can be used internationally. However, please note that third-party services (TMDB, AI providers) may have different data processing locations and regulations. Review their privacy policies for details.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

The App may contain links to external websites (such as streaming services, IMDb, or JustWatch). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party sites. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. All movie and TV show data, images, and information are provided by TMDB under their terms of use.
